The common practice and expectation of Ascension Catholic School is that all students are dropped off and picked up from school each day by a parent/ legal guardian or by a person appropriately designated by a parent/ legal guardian. If a parent/ legal guardian wishes to have his/ her child(ren) walk to school or home from school, then the parent/ legal guardian must specify this in writing (see form below). If there is inclement weather, the school asks the parent/ legal guardian to make appropriate arrangements to ensure the safety and well being of their child(ren).
If Ascension Catholic School received the written directive from a parent/ legal guardian that their child(ren) is to walk home from school, the school will release the child(ren) to walk home unless the shool is later notified by the parent/ legal guardian to the contrary. Ascension Catholic School is not responsible for the supervision of the child(ren) when the child(ren) is not present on school property.
As a condition of allowing your child(ren) to walk to school or to walk home after school, the parent/ legal guardians of the child(ren) agree to indemnify and hold harmless Ascension Catholic School, the parish, the Archdiocese of St. Louis, its affiliates and their officers, directors, members, employees, volunteers and agents, from any injury to the child(ren) or damage to or loss of personal property of child(ren) related to your child(ren) walking to or from school.
