Lunchroom Volunteer Expectations

As a lunchroom volunteer, you play an important role in helping create a safe, positive, and welcoming environment for our students during lunch. To ensure consistency and rspect for all, please review and follow the expectations below:

Eligibility

• Volunteers must complete Protecting God's Children course through the Archdiocese of St. Louis before being permitted to volunteer.
• Volunteers must read through and agree to our Parent Code of Conduct priot to their first shift.
• Voluntees must adhere to the school's code of conduct and confidentiality policies.
• Volunteers must receive the required Epi-Pen training.

1. Professionalism & Conduct

• Treat all students, staff, and fellow volunteer with respect, kindness, and fairness.
• Model appropriate behavior, language, and manners at all times.
• Sign in in the front office before each shift, and sign out at the end of your shift.
• If you cannot make a shift after signing up, please contact the school front office as soon as possible to ensure the lunch shift is covered.

2. Supervision & Safety

• Actively monitor students at all times to ensure safety and appropriate behavior.
• Address minor misbehavior calmly and respectfully, following school guidelines.
• Report serious concerns or incidents immediately to a staff member.
• Be aware of allergies and food safety rules; do not allow food sharing.

3. Student Interaction

• Encourage good table manners and respectful conversation among students.
• Support students in cleaning up their eating area before dismissal.
• Use positive reinforcement to encourage appropriate behavior.

4. Procedures & Routines

• Arrive on time and remain for the duration of your scheduled shift.
• Follow the lunchroom schedule and procedures as directed by staff.
• Assist with seating, line management, and dismissal as needed.
• Help maintain a clean and orderly environment by guiding students in cleaning up spills, trash, and trays.
• Help to clean off tables at the end of each lunch shift.

5. Boundaries

• Do not discipline students physically or raise your voice.
• Avoid playing favorites; treat all students fairly and equally.
• Allow staff to handle situations beyond normal volunteer responsibilities.

Volunteer Code of Conduct Agreement

As a volunteer at Ascension Catholic School, I understand that I may have access to sensitive information regarding students, families, and staff. In order to protect the privacy, dignity, and safety of all members of the school community, I agree to the following:

1. Confidentiality of Student Information

• I will not share, discuss, or disclose any information about students, families, or staff that I learn through my volunteer work.
• I Understand that student records, academic progress, behavior, health information, and personal circumstances are private and protected by law.

2. Conversations & Observations

• I will not discuss what I see or hear at the school with anyone outside of school staff who are directly responsible for the student(s).
• I will avoid casual conversations, gossip, or sharing of information through social media or other platforms.

3. Respect for Privacy

• I will respect the privacy of all students, staff, and families at all times.
• I will not take photographs, videos, or recordings of students or staff unless specifically authorized by the school administration.

4. Responsibility to Report

• If I observe or suspect a situation that could place a chuild at risk, I will immediately report it to the appropriate school administrator or designated staff member.

5. Commitment

• I understand that maintaining confidentiality is a condition of volunteering at Ascension Catholic School.
• I acknowledge that failure to upload this agreement may result in the termination of my volunteer service.

Acknowledgement

I have read and understand the Confidentiality Agreement. By signing below, I agree to abide by the expectations set forth, and to maintain the confidentiality of all information I encounter as a volunteer at Ascension Catholic School.
