Hello Ascension Families!
As we begin to prepare for beginning of our school year, we need your help with welcoming our new families! We are fortunate to be welcoming many Kindergarteners and many new families across all grades this year. Signing up to be a buddy family is a great way to get involved, welcome and support a new family throughout the year and help build our community.
We ask that the buddy family welcome the new student(s) at the beginning of the year. Especially for those families new to Ascension, please check in with them throughout the year to ensure they are getting questions answered. Provide them with tips and reminders of things you wish you would have known as a new family (dress down day attire, Christmas activities, Literacy night details, and Field Day sign up, to name a few)!

In the sign up link you can find the child's name, grade they are entering, and their address.
The first activity for our buddy families is the welcome yard sign with a small gift to welcome the new student(s) the weekend before school! In addition, please reach out to the parents and help answer any questions they may have prior to school starting. You can find the parents' preferred phone numbers in Sycamore.
When you reach out, please make sure to let them know about the upcoming grade meetups, dates are below for the grades that are scheduled:
Kindergarten - August 9
First Grade - August 2
Second Grade - July 25
Third Grade - July 26
Once you sign up - you can collect the yard sign either at Supply Drop Off on August 6th (I will have them placed in the front of school) or from my front porch (133 Chippenham Lane, Chesterfield, MO 63005) starting the evening of August 4th.
Please place the sign in your buddy family’s yard over the weekend (August 7th-9th) prior to school starting. To make it extra fun for the new student, flair, such as balloons or special treats for the students are encouraged. See some examples below.

Welcome Gift Ideas
A personal note to the family, little (non meltable) treats, snacks or cutely wrapped trinkets, plus balloons on the sign are always a hit!
